WHY DO I LOVE BIRD WATCHING?
Besides gardening, I also love watching birds, their colorful plumage, and listen to their sweet calls. I remember becoming inattentive at class, especially the boring history classes. And, once I was even scolded by my teacher. I still recall my teacher saying, “Rami Misbah Taha, why are you looking outside the window? What are you staring at?” I could not say that I was watching a beautiful green parrot perched on tree branch. I was afraid that I would be punished if I told the truth.
Today I go for bird watching with a like-minded friend. A fun and social hobby that helps you spend some good time with folks looking for healthy amusement. Bird watching also provides me with outdoor exercise like walking - a respite from my sedentary lifestyle. I usually visit a local park in the morning to pump in some clean, fresh air. Besides watching a variety of birds in this park, I also enjoy the lush vegetation, and walking bare footed on the soft green grass.
Bird watching refreshes my body and mind, and lowers my blood pressure level. It gives me a sense of peace and tranquility. Suddenly I heard someone calling out, “Mr. Rami Misbah Taha, why do you come to this park every morning? I don’t see you jogging at all!” It was my next-door neighbor. I told him that I come here to watch birds.
